I am a trained teacher who would like to teach in a Steiner school, but can’t travel to Sydney to study. How can I gain the qualifications or training?

SRSC offers a Distance Course with Residentials in the Foundations of Steiner Education which can be studied before and during your employment.
January Intensives at Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School focus on the curriculum and teaching methodology as a preparation for the year ahead.
You can also further your understanding through professional development at schools and self-directed study.

What qualifications do Rudolf Steiner/Waldorf schools require for their teachers?

In addition to the Bachelor of Education and registration with the appropriate teacher registration body, schools will give high priority if training is obtained through a recognised Rudolf Steiner college.

I don’t want to be a teacher but would like to learn more about Steiner’s approach to life.

You can attend the full time course which is an introduction into all aspects of Steiner’s Anthroposophy and includes modules in the humanities, sciences, arts and crafts with a focus on self transformation.
We call this part of the course the Parsifal Journey as it looks into contemporary life questions. It is delivered in the first semester over two years.
Our Distance Course can also be used as a personal study.

I want to teach in a Steiner high school. Is there a high school training course?

There is no formal training but intensives in various subject areas are offered from time to time. The principles of primary school Main Lesson teaching and rhythm are also relevant to high school teaching. Further study is often available in-house in Steiner High Schools.
The philosophy and artistic way of working that underlies Steiner education is of fundamental importance for all teachers/prospective teachers/parents. This can be studied through our Full Time Advanced Diploma course or alternatively through our Distance Course and provides an invaluable basis for teaching as well as personal growth.

If I study the Distance course in teacher training will I get credit if I decide to change to the FT Advanced Diploma.
