Performance Arts Course

The day will include the following modules:

Speech and Drama -  exploring the inner world of both actor and character through different forms of movement, improvisation, the hidden life and meaning in sounds and the forming of the spoken word. This module is experiential rather than lecture style. The psycho-physical techniques aim to unlock the higher creative individuality in the performer. Performance material will include monologue, dialogue and poetry in differing styles.

Eurythmy In this module we explore how to bring sound and gesture alive through movement. We learn to bring the inner intention and gesture of the performer visibly to the stage. We aim to connect with one's inner experience, and to make it visible and audible to the audience.

The first term will be a thorough working through of various performance, speech and eurythmy techniques, out of which a small performance will culminate. The second and third terms will be intensive working on a large scale performance, which will be performed at Glenaeon at the end of the year.

In 2010 we will be working in a new venue, the Harmony Arts Centre in Mittagong, Southern Highlands, surrounded by an orchard and fresh air. The Centre has its own performance space that doubles as a small theatre.

Students have the opportunity to discover the healing power of sound, language and movement as well as unique tools that unlock the potential to create wonderfully alive characters for the stage.

This course is open to all levels of experience. Beginners welcome.
